2024 #7: June 29
July’s been my busiest month yet, but I’ve got some exciting stuff to share! Gotta keep this one brief (but straight to the point)
Music stuff
Live:
I’m playing bass in Sinai Vessel for the first leg of a tour to support their new LP, I Sing. I wrote about this record in my May newsletter, and I’m stoked to be playing in the band. This’ll be my first tour ever on bass, too. Tour dates can be found here. Our first show is in Chicago at the Hideout, this Wednesday 7/31!
On 8/19, I’ll be doing an Options (Computer Music) set at The Empty Bottle in Chicago, as part of a “Triple Single Release Show,” alongside The Deals and Dust Star (who I’m also going to be playing drums with). Yes, this means we’re all celebrating the release of a new single for this show. Gonna be wild, and the best part is the show is free! You can RSVP here if you’d like to save yourself a spot.
Cameron Wisch (Cende, Dust Star, etc) announced his new project, Soft Surface, along with the first two shows for the project. I’ll be playing drums, and we’ll be playing NYC 8/23 at Cassette and Philly 8/25 at Foto Club.
Releases:
Three new Puddle Splashers video sessions I worked on have dropped in the last month— Harvey Waters, Rong, and Excrucis. More coming along, as always.
New music from Hemlock, Rong, Excrucis, Girly Pants that I had a hand in audio-wise, are out now. You can always keep up to date via my website
Recording:
I’m attempting to book a “Recording Tour” for November, where I drive a mobile rig (computer, interface, monitors, headphone boxes, preamps, mics) to a few locations around the Midwest/East Coast, to be able to make recordings in non-traditional spaces.
Ideally, I’d be able to book a few of these projects in direct succession. Do you have access to a Warehouse? Church? Barn? Please reach out! I really want to make this happen.
Thank you as always and will be looking forward to a more mindful and focused update…. sooner than later!
